Zimbabwe’s Shona Language in a Minute
Tamba. means Play (or) dance. Handeyi kuno tamba. Let’s go dancing. Mwana arikutamba. The child is playing.
Mwana. means Child. Mwana wangu. My child.
Funga. means Think or Thought. Ndino funga kuti ndiye. I think its him. Ayi funga kuti ndiwe. He thought it was you.

Manheru Kudzai! I am glad I can refresh my Shona! I know I’ll never be able to pronounce certain words correctly, but this doesn’t matter. It is nice to learn a few words every now and then. Gruesse (kwaziso) aus Deutschland, Farai (which was my nickname when I worked in Zimbabwe ;o)
Hi Farai. Great to hear from you. My brother’s name is also Farai! (He’s in lesson 009 too). On the contrary, I believe you’ll be able to pronounce them with no problem. Practice makes perfect!
I have been looking online for a English-Shona site. Would you tell me the (or some) equivalent word for “grateful” in Shona?
